Instructor Development Course
Instructor Development Courses are designed for law enforcement trainers responsible for teaching defensive tactics within their agencies. This program builds upon the techniques taught in the Officer Skills Course while also focusing on effective instruction and program development.
Participants will learn how to safely teach grappling-based control techniques, structure training sessions, identify and correct common mistakes, and manage practical training environments. The course also emphasizes developing instructors who can confidently deliver structured defensive tactics training to their personnel.
Instructor Development Courses are intended to help agencies build capable and knowledgeable instructors for their organizations.
The academy recognizes two primary competitors within this training space:
- Gracie University, with its well-established Gracie Survival Tactics (GST) program.
- Effective Fitness Combatives (EFC), another prominent training provider with a strong law enforcement following.
In the future, the academy intends to expand into private contract courses, where agencies directly hire Lawman’s Black Belt Academy to provide customized on-site training for their personnel. This model will allow agencies to integrate our curriculum into their defensive tactics and in-service training programs while reducing travel costs and maximizing training hours.
